About a month ago I stumbled onto the concept of disc-bound planners and fell down a rabbit hole of awesomeness. You see, I am an organization junkie who has always loved making lists and checking items off that list. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s cathartic for my type A personality. However, I have never found a pre-made planner that I’ve been able to keep up with long term. I love the ability to constantly “tweak” things in order to make them work better for me.
Enter the Happy Planner!

It’s probably obvious to you at this point that I did not manage to resist that temptation. I am now the proud owner of three HP’s (two of which have been put together onto one set of expander rings with a budget extension), a beautiful leather-look snap cover, over 100 rolls of decorative washi of various widths, and at least 20 different sticker books…. among other fun things. I use these items every single day and I have come to really enjoy decorating the coming weeks pages and scrapbooking right into my planner. When I finish a spread and look over my colorful, themed pages to see how visually appealing they are, then I want to use those pages to keep track of all the little things that I need to remember every single day.

What’s so great about a planner?
It’s a memory keeper, a to-do list, a creative outlet, a life organizing tool, and a work of art as unique as the planner themself. The pages come out easily and just as easily can be relocated into another spot (which lends itself well to people like me who can’t leave well enough alone). They come in endless variations of size, layout, design, function and colors. You can change the discs and even mesh several different planner’s pages onto one set of discs to make your very own “frankenplanner”. This is a whole post in and of itself so I will save the explanation for another day. With an amazing selection of accessories available to help you make your Happy Planner beautiful, functional, and unique, the possibilities are infinite. What’s not to love?!All the pretty Happy Planner stickers!
This seems like a good time to mention a small warning – once you make the decision to purchase a Happy Planner (which I will affectionately refer to as HP for the rest of this post) it will be very easy to fall into temptation. You WILL find it hard to resist purchasing multiple sticker books (there are soooooo many), extension packs, notes and half notes, sticky notes, washi…. ahhh the possibilities!! The good news is that there are some very excellent ways to get all of these goodies way below retail (again another post itself which I promise to write ASAP). You don’t need to feel quite so ashamed of purchasing every adorable accessory you can get your hands on!Ok, so it’s pretty… but what about function?
I use my planner to track- my household and homeschool to-do list,
- my household projects,
- homeschool assignments (I have a seperate HP Teacher planner for this purpose),
- bills,
- events,
- appointments,
- birthdays and holidays,
- paydays,
- expenses and spending,
- grocery list,
- meal planning…..
